BUYING GUIDE FOR BEST GOLF CART LIFT KITS

Golf cart lift kits are essential equipment for your golf cart if you want to get more elevation. These kits help add more height and are necessary if you’re installing big custom tires. Golf courses have rugged terrain, which can take a physical toll on regular golf cart tires. That is why many golfers choose to replace their standard tires with custom-installed larger ones.

However, replacing the original tires of a golf cart with custom tires is not an easy task. More often than not, these custom tires are bigger than the golf cart’s original configuration. This makes the need for a golf cart lift kit more imperative.

Golf cart lift kits come in several different configurations and sizes, and choosing the one that fits your cart is a daunting task. There are several considerations you must keep in mind when buying a golf cart lift kit; some of these are:

TYPE OF GOLF CART LIFT KITS

Golf cart lift kits are of various types, and each one has its advantages and shortfalls. Generally, lift kits are classified into the following classes;

DROP SPINDLE LIFT KITS

Drop Spindle lift kits are the most commonly used lift kits in golf carts due to their easy installation and low cost. These lift kits utilize the maximum potential of your cart’s existing suspension and increase the golf cart’s spindle length and size.

More importantly, drop spindle lift kits also increase your cart’s overall width, allowing you to add larger wheels and providing much-needed stability in rugged terrain.

BLOCK LIFT KITS

Block lift kits are the next on the list and are the most economical of all the best golf cart lift kits. These are easily installed and give an instant height boost to your cart. They are easy to install and come as 4-inch steel blocks that you place under your existing suspension. These are made from block-shaped steel pieces and have the most uncomplicated design.

Even though block lift kits are economical, they receive a fair share of criticism for their shortcomings. Mainly, these golf cart lift kits are not the best when it comes to versatility and flexibility, as they only come in 4” size. Moreover, block lift kits don’t offer the best ride quality and are unsuitable for bumpier terrains.

A-ARM LIFT KITS

A-Arm kits are a bulkier version of the spindle kits, and they almost completely replace your original suspension. A-Arm lift kits only replace the first part of the suspension, and some models also feature circular-tubing construction, making them even stronger.

A-Arm kits are more robust and have a better design than drop-spindle and block lift kits, allowing you to install even larger tires. These golf cart lift kits are known for their exceptional performance and a smoother, more comfortable ride.

DROP AXLE LIFT KITS

Drop Axle kits, as the name suggests, replace your stock axle with a “drop axle.” Drop axle lift kits come with an elongated stock radius that extends to the stock spindles of a cart. As a result, this increases your axle’s height without affecting the spindles significantly.

Their price is generally on the lower side, but they provide a less smooth ride than A-Arm or Spindle Kits. While drop axle lift kits are usually easy to install, they pose a challenge to novice golfers who are new to the best golf cart lift kits.

LONG TRAVEL LIFT KITS

Long travel lift kits are the most effective and most expensive golf cart lift kits in the market. They lead to a complete overhaul of your stock suspension and replace them with a state-of-the-art system that makes your cart a formidable machine.

Long travel kits are arguably the best golf cart lift kits due to their highly advanced mechanism and design. They work by separating the front and rear suspensions and substituting them with bouncy springs, making the golf cart equipped for any terrain.

SIZE

Besides the type, golf cart lift kits come in a variety of different sizes, beginning from 3 inches and going all the way up to 7 inches and beyond.

However, most kits in the market come in the two most popular sizes, 4 inches and 6 inches. There are several kits of 3, 5, or 7 inches as well, but these are extremely rare and not suitable for most golf carts.

3 INCHES LIFT KITS

3 inches lift kits are not very popular these days as golfers demand bigger and more sturdy tires. However, they can be used for adding tires of up to 20 inches. Most 3 inches lift kits are Spindle Lift, A-Arm, and Drop Axle.

4 INCHES LIFT KITS

Four inches is the typical size of a block lift kit. They are economical, easy to install, and most suitable for tires up to 20 inches in height.

6 INCHES LIFT KITS

6 inches is the most common size for lift kits. These are similar to 3 inches lift kits as these also come in Spindle Lift, A-Arm, and Drop Axle lift kit types. These are among the best golf cart lift kits as they are highly versatile and suitable for more prominent and aggressive tires.

7 INCHES AND 8 INCHES LIFT KITS

These heavy-duty lift kits are not designed for everyday golfing use. Most 7 or 8 inches golf cart lift kits are long travel lift kits designed for extremely challenging surfaces.
