Buying Guide for Best Golf Cart Windshields

Golf Cart Model

Some windshields will fit any golf cart regardless of the brand or the model. However, many windshields are specially made for particular golf cart models. You must ensure that the windshield you choose is compatible with your golf cart.

Thickness

It is a known fact that a thicker windshield will offer better protection against hazards. However, thick windshields can be bulky and cost extra. Generally, golf cart windshields come in two thickness options, namely, 3/16″ or 1/4″.

Windshield Material

Windshield material plays a critical role in determining the durability and visibility while driving. Vinyl, acrylic, and polycarbonate are the most commonly used materials for making golf cart windshields.

Vinyl is mostly used in roll-up windshields. Sometimes, a combination of both acrylic and polycarbonate is used. Each of these materials has its perks.

For instance, polycarbonate is stronger than acrylic and can cope better with impacts from hard substances like stones.

Acrylic generally tends to break when hit with a hard substance. At the same time, polycarbonate is vulnerable to scratches and reduces visibility.

2 Types of Golf Cart Windshield

Golf cart windshields are of different types and each type has its own benefits. Here are the most common ones.

Roll-up Golf Cart Windshield

Roll up windshields are the cheapest and most convenient when you need one for a temporary basis. They are highly portable and made from vinyl, and provide instant protection from wind, rain, and sun. You simply need to mount it on a golf cart for quick relief.

Fold-Down / Split / Hinged Golf Cart Windshield

Fold-down golf cart windshields, also called split or hinged, offer a more permanent solution than the previous type. You can partially fold these windshields according to your preference.
